Popeye K is by the great show jumper Voltaire, who produced several offspring that compete at the international level or are excellent sires themselves, including Finesse, Helios, Play it Again, Altair, and ConcordeThe dam of Popeye K includes the great show jumper and sire Ramiro Z, who was the leading sire of jumpers in the world throughout much of the 1990s, and who produced the likes of Ratina Z, Zamira and Donau.

Popeye has a proven track record in the ring winning at all of the major horse shows in the country consistently for the last 5 years, starting in 2002. He has been Horse of the Year once and Reserve Horse of the Year three times as well as winning many other awards along the way.
